Nourish – Belonging Through Food

COVID-19 Update: For updates and information about how Nourish is pivoting to meet the needs of our community, please visit

One in two woman-led households in our region is struggling to put healthy food on the table. As a result, mothers are compromising the quality and quantity of food they eat, in order to provide their children with as much food as possible.

This is the alarming reality at the heart of Nourish, a YWCA program in partnership with GreenUP and Peterborough Public Health.

Nourish combines dignified access to nutritious food, gardening and cooking skills along with programming designed to empower individuals to advocate for themselves and others and grow a just food system for all. By harnessing the power of food, Nourish brings people together to build a collective sense of belonging, while working towards the systemic changes required to end food insecurity and poverty.

For more information about all that Nourish has to offer (JustFood Basket, Community Gardening, Cooking Workshops, etc.), please visit us at

Our programs rely on donor funding for their operation. As government and other agency funding is decreasing, the demand for our services is increasing. To find out more about how you can help bridge this gap and change the lives of countless women and children in our communities, please contact us.
