Mark Sokolski, a local Peterborough real estate agent with The Sokolski Real Estate Group, has spent 2023 raising funds and preparing for a unique and exciting challenge to benefit the YWCA!
As part of Royal LePage’s nationwide Ecuador Challenge for Shelter, Mark will be heading to Ecuador in November to trek 5 days toward one of the highest active volcanoes in the world. He is also working hard to fundraise and seek sponsors on his fundraising website. As of September, he has raised 96% of his $50,000 goal, which will help support the YWCA’s Crossroads Shelter.
On his website, Mark writes:
“During this high-altitude adventure, I will be hiking long days across varied terrain in unpredictable mountain weather. I’ll be camping in a tent and going without cell service, electricity, bathroom facilities and other comforts of home.
“This trek will not be easy but it will be immensely worthwhile. Each step I take and every dollar I raise will support courageous women and children in my community who are seeking safety and hope for a life free from abuse. […]
“As a realtor, I help people try to achieve “home”, and I want to take on this challenge for those who don’t always see their home as a safe place, those experiencing violence or abuse of any kind.”
