Gender-based violence has been a frequent topic in local news this week in Peterborough, after at least two separate incidents were categorized as intimate partner violence.
YWCA Peterborough Haliburton executive director, Kim Dolan, spoke to Global News on July 8 as part of their segment on the rise in domestic violence incidents and calls for help from survivors.

Data provided by the YWCA along with the Kawartha Sexual Assault Centre last year was also referenced in a Global News article on July 9, reporting that only six per cent of area survivors of sexual assault reported the incident to police, and one in five people experiencing gender-based violence said they called police.
The segment featured a new safety tool being piloted by victim services agencies in Ontario, including Victim Services Peterborough Northumberland, a fellow member organization of the Peterborough Domestic Abuse Network (PDAN).
