Federal, provincial funding to help Peterborough-area seniors cope with isolation

Funding announcements were made Friday by the federal and provincial governments aiming at supporting seniors and non-profit groups during the pandemic.

The New Horizons for Seniors Program is providing nearly $130,000 in funding to 10 community-based projects in Peterborough city and county, MP Maryam Monsef announced. New Horizons for Seniors is a federal grant program that supports volunteerism, mentoring, social participation and inclusion, and efforts to raise awareness of elder abuse, including financial abuse.

YWCA Peterborough Haliburton will receive $5,000 to help teach seniors, during virtual sessions, to use digital tools needed for support during the pandemic. (Read more…)
