HERS – Haliburton Emergency Rural SafeSpace

COVID-19 Update: YWCA Peterborough Haliburton support and crisis services for women who experience violence are still available. HERS – Haliburton Emergency Rural SafeSpace, Crossroads Shelter and our 24 Hour Support & Crisis Line remain open.

While our offices are closed to the public to help flatten the curve, our support teams are working remotely and will continue to provide assistance by phone, text and email during regular business hours (Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 4:30 pm). View our full update here.

HERS provides a unique safe space within Haliburton County so that women and their children can move away from the abusive situation in their home, without leaving their support systems, jobs and schools, families and friends behind.

Both of our two bedroom units of temporary housing are available on an as-needed basis. While staying at HERS, families live independently and have access to support staff 24 hours a day. We also provide clinical counselling/therapy, information about housing and income supports, assistance navigating the Family and Criminal Court systems and more.

We encourage you to contact us directly for more information: 705-286-6442 or email. (For after hours inquiries or referrals, please call 1-800-461-7656.)

Our programs rely on donor funding for their operation. As government and other agency funding is decreasing, the demand for our services is increasing. To find out more about how you can help bridge this gap and change the lives of countless women and children in our communities, please contact us.
