More than 200 people go home with bowls from YWCA Empty Bowls event

The 16th annual YWCA Empty Bowls fundraiser was held at The Venue on George Street over the lunch hour Friday in support of the YWCA Nourish program in Peterborough.

For $40 supporters chose from hundreds of ceramic and wooden bowls — crafted and donated by local artisans with Kawartha Potters’ Guild, Kawartha Woodturners Guild and Artisans Centre Peterborough — and enjoyed a variety of food prepared and donated by local restaurants.
More than 200 people attended.

All proceeds from the event will help to enhance local food security, reduce social isolation and build healthy relationships through YWCA Nourish, which offers programs on eating, cooking, growing and advocating for good food health, according to organizers. (Read more…)
