One in two woman-led households in our region is struggling to put healthy food on the table. As a result, mothers are compromising the quality and quantity of food they eat, in order to provide their children with as much food as possible.
This is the alarming reality at the heart of Nourish, a collaborative between YWCA Peterborough Haliburton, GreenUP and Peterborough Public Health.
Nourish combines dignified access to food, gardening and cooking skills along with programming designed to empower individuals to advocate for themselves and others and grow a just food system for all. By harnessing the power of food, Nourish brings people together to build a collective sense of belonging, while working towards the systemic changes required to end food insecurity and poverty.
