A great day to walk for safe nights for women fleeing abuse

For Kat Kendrick, Friday was a day for her to pay it forward to the YWCA.

She was among the men, women and children who gathered Friday at Confederation Square on for the 11th annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes walk down George Street, a fundraiser for the YWCA’s Crossroads Shelter.

While Kendrick hasn’t used the Crossroads Shelter, she has utilized the services the YWCA offers, and being at the event Friday was her way of saying thank you.

“I think that there is not a lot of awareness of abuse and what it really looks like,” Kendrick said, “and we need more support for people.” (Read more…)
